What Are the Benefits of Roofline?

If you are unsure what your home’s roofline is and what the benefits of an upgrade are, keep reading to find out. Our experts are sharing everything you need to know about roofline.
What is Roofline?
Roofline is the term used when referring to the part of a roof that meets the property’s exterior wall. If you look up at a property’s roof, the roofline is the area where the roof and the rest of the property connect around the edges.

A home’s roofline is not a single part, it is made up of the following components:
Fascias – Fascias are the boards that line the edge of a property’s roof timbers. The fascia component of the roofline has three key responsibilities – protect the exposed rafter ends, secure bottom row of tiles in place and provide a solid base for guttering to be securely fitted. Roof fascia is designed to support heavy loads, ensuring it maintains its structural integrity during heavy rainfall and poor weather conditions
Soffits – The soffits are flat boards, located underneath the roofline’s fascias. The purpose of soffits is to protect exposed sections of the overhanging roof. Weatherproof and durable, soffits protect roof rafters from adverse weather conditions and effectively seal the roof to the property walls. If you notice animals and birds lodging in your attic, damaged soffits may be to blame.
Guttering – The most recognisable part of a property’s roofline, guttering runs along the full perimeter of the roof’s edge. Guttering is needed to drain rainwater away from the property walls. To successfully drain water away, uPVC guttering is often attached to a pipe. The water travels through the guttering, down the pipe and flows into the ground or a water butt below.
Bargeboards – Bargeboards are attached to the diagonal roof eaves and provide weather protection, similar to that offered by the fascia. The bargeboards help to stop moisture from entering your home and causing rot issues.
Benefits of Roofline Replacement

As you can see, the various roofline components have a very important job to do! Without fascias, soffits, bargeboards and guttering, your roof will be exposed and vulnerable to the natural elements.
To ensure your property is well protected from weather damage – and creatures looking for a cosy nest! – a high performing roofline is essential. By investing in modern, uPVC roofline components, you can protect the longevity of your home and also boost its curb appeal.
Here are the top benefits of upgrading your home’s roofline:
• Improved drainage
• Roof weather protection
• Reduced risk of damp
• Lower chance of roof damage
• Prevents animals and birds from getting inside
• Enhances property appearance
Signs Your Roofline Needs Replacing
Your home’s current roofline will not last forever and there are several signs that an upgrade is needed. If you are not sure if your roofline needs to be repaired or replaced, check for the following common signs:
• Rotting
